Mint Julep has been the traditional drink of Kentucky Derby horseracing for a while now. It is one of the classic and original American cocktails. The authentic version was a bit different: it also included rum or cognac, some liqueur mixed with sugar and mint. These days, though, the recipe is more sensible, so the only alcohol involved is bourbon which still makes it quite kicking. Originally it was served in silver glasses or mugs but if you don't have any then just pick some exquisite glass for this one.
The drawback of this cocktail is that it's unfortunately quite easy to prepare it badly by, mostly, messing up the proportions. Then you are most likely to get something resembling a sticky glass full of minty water. To avoid this, try to be accurate in measuring and serve it straight after your Mint Julep is prepared, since otherwise the ice will simply melt. But mixed correctly it is supposed to be above delicious. Just don't forget that it is quite a strong one.
