Blue Lagoon Ingredients
Our Blue Lagoon recipe consists of the following ingredients – we always attempt to include substitutes where it is possible:
How to make a Blue Lagoon
-
1Fill the highball glass with ice. A good idea here is to use some lightly crushed ice – which you can achieve by blending a few ice cubes in a blender for a second or two. You don't want them too water-like, otherwise this will simply water down your Blue Lagoon.
-
2Pour in vodka and the blue curacao liqueur together. You can always experiment on the ratio of these two ingredients once you have tried the original Blue Lagoon cocktail.
-
3Add some lemonade and stir everything carefully. To be served with a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass, especially if you're looking to impress your wife or girlfriend!

Blue Lagoon sounds, looks and tastes very tropical. It is bright blue and reminds you of the southern skies, though it is stronger than you might think. The legends tells us a story of an artist who lived in Paris. The doctors told him he wasn't allowed any alcohol and recommended that he goes to Tahiti. He was ever so upset, that he decided to think of such a tropical drink that would replace the need to go to Tahiti. So now we have the beautiful Blue Lagoon!
It goes without saying that this drink is a perfect option for a hot summer day. But in winter it may be appropriate, too. It would remind you of summer and make you feel more energetic and optimistic.
The ingredients are quite simple, except for the exotic blue curacao. It is a liquer flavoured with dried peel of laraha citrus - a fruit similar to orange, just somewhat bitter. Various flavours may be added to curacao including coffee, caramel, raisin, lemon, spices, etc.
