¡Viva American Cocktails!
Due to the cosompolitan nature of the American society, many cocktails stem from America. This can be traced back to the influx of individuals from various cultures such as Mexico and other Central and South American countries, which have brought their own alcoholic ingredients to the United States, and therefore have been made into various cocktails over the years.
One example is the increased popularity of vodka in the United States. Whereas the Russians are well known for their consumption of vodka without any other ingredients added, the Americans found this peculiar, and were therefore inclined to utilise vodka, but by mixing it with other ingredients to form some interesting cocktails.
Vermouth and Bourbon tend to be common ingredients in American based cocktails, but the aformentioned vodka also became a common addition due to the migration of Russian citizens to the United States.
