What is Sherry?

Sherry or jerez (Spanish) – is a type of fortified wine produced in the South of Spain in the region of such towns as Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. The Phoenicians grew grapes in the area even before the first millennium B.C. Later the Greek kept on doing it. In the 18th century the Moors started ruling the country and it was them who established the vineyards of table kinds. Wine as a drink was prohibited then. This fact influenced the characteristics of sherry a lot in the end. In Jerez de la Frontera people still say: “It’s complicated to look after a girl and a vineyard simultaneously”- as Palomino, the juicy type of grapes with thin peel used in the 90 per cent of sherry productions, is one of the rarest kinds that is suitable for both wine-making and just eating. It’s the Palomino grapes that give the most exquisite sherry. But such kinds as Pedro Ximenez and Moscatel are used too, to produce the sweet varieties.

Frozen Daiquiri (Cocktail)

This is one of the Daiquiri series, just the frozen version. You should add a generous amount of ice to Frozen Daiquiri (because otherwise it wouldnt' be that frozen). It is supposed to be blended, thus its texture resembles a nice smoothie drink. If you want to experiment with the flavours and colours, you can add some fruity syrups to it, such as strawberry, cranberry, etc. In bars there are usually special devices that create a smoothie texture, but it is also possible at home just with a bit more effort. It is possible to get such an effect not only by blending the ice but also using frozen Limeade - a concentrated drink with the strong lime flavour. This will help you create the smooth texture and add both sweetness and sourness to the drink.

Drambuie (Ingredient)

The clear, sparkling and golden liqueur called Drambuie is made with Highland and Speyside Scotch malt whiskies and flavored with secret herbs and spices, along with a touch of honey.
